WILIFE SPY CAMERA/BABY MONITOR: Best digital home security Camera at an affordable price.

I was looking for a product that lets monitor my baby remotely . You can use it as nanny monitor also. I was looking mainly for wireless connectivity so that I can move the camera anywhere
And as always wireless is costly thing,you should have a router,a wireless camera that streams live video.
Things turned out very expensive.

My search stopped at this LUKWERKS WILIFE SPY CAMERA whihc pretty much costs around 300$ for 1 camera.
This is a great product and really serves the purpose.The main thing I like about it is the wireless feature.
All you need is a electric wall outlet and this product works like a wireless camera.

The computer needs to be turned on always. The command center software runs on the pc and the receiver is connected from the wall electric
outlet to the USB port on the PC,thus closing the ring. the camera sends the live video to the receiver through the power lines.
Thus avoiding all the headache of wireless setup.

YOu can move this camera to any room and it works great.
Even if you move the camera to different electric outlet ,the video just picks up in 30 seconds.

The video can be viewed remotely by logging to online.wilife.com and the live stream can be 3 minutes at a time.
Every 3 minutes to need to reload the stream and this is free.
For a charge of 79.95/yr WILIFE allows a live stream of 10 minutes.
You can watch live video as many times as you want but the thing is you have to reload every 10 minutes.
This is an upgrade and has storage space of 50MB to store some recorded video.

The video quality is very god and works great even in low light environments.

Also this is the only camera that operates at all the voltages across the world 110 volts to 240 volts.
SO can be used across the world.

Finally a great worth for the money you put in.

Server recommendation

You need to pick a server based on your requirements/price/skillset.

If money spending is not an issue you can choose Solaris server provided if you have skillset.
This is the best server and Operating System I have ever used.

If you are concerned about the money then you should go for Linux server.
You need to keep in mind that installing server application on Linux is not as easy as Solaris. You have to account for lot of dependency library issues which take considerable amount of time. Once you setup linux box running it is as good as solaris.

But when you come to upgrading your applications Linux is much faster than Solaris.

In today's world of VOIP lot of products have come and replace the traditional LAN phone model. MAGICJACK stands out of all with best price and reliability.

To call international I use to spend lot of money for the phone cards or I use to cut my talking time to limit my spending. More over you have to dial 1-800 number and then enter couple of pin numbers which is lot of trouble to get connected and talk. You need broadband internet connection and computer to use this product. When you register for this product you will be assigned a local USA number and you can ship that product to your country. 1)Enable vsftp on RedHat..

Just to start you can use
# /sbin/service vsftpd start

Following makes ftp service to start automatically on reboot

/sbin/chkconfig vsftpd on

disable vsftp
/sbin/service vsftpd stop

/sbin/chkconfig vsftpd off

2)installing ftpd BSD version

[root@singam15]# rpm -i ftpd-0.3.3-118.i586.rpm

3) To start your own script on a reboot add it to /etc/rc.local.
This script will be executed *after* all the other init scripts.

example: /opt/yourapp/bin/script &

4) TO find version name in SUSE use cat /etc/issue

5) disable ping respons on linux box

Many malicious attacks begin with a ping scan. Disabling ICMP echo requests prevents your system's discovery with a ping.
As superuser, add the following lines to /etc/sysctl.conf

net.ipv4.icmp_echo_ignore_broadcasts = 1
net.ipv4.icmp_echo_ignore_all = 1

Then run the following command to cause the change to take effect immediately:

sysctl -p

1) to change welcome message
cd /etc

and change motd file (message of today)

2)to change PATH, SUPATH variable setting for top and tcpdump

change /etc/default/login file

PATH=/usr/bin:/usr/sbin/:/opt/sfw/bin:/opt/sfw/sbin
SUPATH=/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/opt/sfw/bin:/opt/sfw/sbin

for super user change /etc/default/su file with
SUPATH=/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/opt/sfw/bin:/opt/sfw/sbin

3)When you create a user using command line it does not allow you to login to GUI ?

To solve the problem you need to create home directory and make sure it is writable by that user because while login
to GUI it creates .dtprofile, .TTauth etc. files.

As of fairly recently patched versions of Solaris and new releases e.g. version 9 onwards, pkgadd seems to be more security conscious. Thus when a pkg is added pkgadd looks for the user install to install the package as and if it doesn't find it then performs the install as user nobody.

To fix this, as root, create a user called install by adding the following into /etc/passwd:

install:x:0:1:installation user:/:/bin/true

then run pwconv on the command line.

N.B.: the user install must have the same uid and gid as root.

7) command to find which Operation System your Solaris box is running

# uname -a
SunOS cypher 5.8 Generic_108528-15 sun4u sparc SUNW,UltraSPARC-IIi-cEngine

8) command to find whether solaris is 64bit or 32bit

/usr/bin/isainfo -kv

output will be like following
64-bit sparcv9 kernel modules

9) disable/enable ftp on solaris box

vi /etc/inetd.conf

comment following line
#ftp stream tcp6 nowait root /usr/sbin/in.ftpd in.ftpd

and send HUP signal to inetd process to take effect.

# ps -ef|grep inetd
root 150 1 0 13:59:32 ? 0:00 /usr/sbin/inetd -s
# kill -HUP 150

Changing IPaddress on Linux box

Following are the steps to change IPAdress on REDHAT linux box
1)change /etc/hosts file with ipaddress and hostname
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
10.17.2.51 singam15
2) change /etc/sysconfig/network file like following
NETWORKING=yes
HOSTNAME=singam15
GATEWAY=10.17.0.1
3) change /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 file like following
DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=static
BROADCAST=10.17.255.255

1) change /etc/hosts file

2) change /etc/resolv.conf if needed. otherwise remove the file.
search yourdomain.com yourdomain.com
nameserver 10.18.3.4
3) change /etc/hostname.eri0 with
hostname
5) change /etc/netmasks file like following
10.19.1.0 255.255.255.0
6) change /etc/defaultrouter file with gatway address
10.19.1.1
